BT Road Trip

OK! Tomorrow morning bright and early anthro grad and I hit the road (by bus) for La Plata where they´re having the first oral and public trial of a "repressor" since the obediencia debida and punto final laws were nullified. This is historic. And, from news accounts and photos (the trial opened today) there´s a little bit of everything going on down in La Plata. We may or may not be able to get in, but it´s worth a try. There are also large protests and demonstrations, so we´ll need to be ready for dive, run, or head for cover. We´re on the buddy-system. I´ll have my cell phone and a bar of Toblerone with me

On other fronts, internet still down and Department schizophrenic as ever. They suddenly discovered an additional .25´s worth of a semester and dropped me from the waitlist all together, without so much as a word. Good thing I thought to check. Had a feeling. Every time I speak to them, it´s a different number: 10, 11, and now a mind-numbing 11.25. I called the grad school for an¨"audit", but of course that won't really change things because it all comes down to how the department chooses to add things up. That, and it seems I´ve become persona non grata among the Illuminati.

But back to the trial. Did I mention it´s historic? It´s my work here that is most important and that deserves my full attention. So wish me luck!

Hope everyone is well.

B.

Yes, I visited the Department last week and MPD doesn't even begin to describe it. Between The Big Move and The Change of Chairpersons, it (almost) made me homesick for the Congo. Here's hoping they'll get things straightened out for you sooner rather than later!

B,sending you tons of good luck! Keep your chin up! The DOG seems to have no clue on how to deal with students. But I am sure something will work out in time.
