wednesday lowdown

Hello, again. Another excellent day. One of the NGOs wants me to do some translations for them. Going to see what it's all about, eventually. Did the town. Bought some Bach and a book of essays by Umberto Eco, Cinco escritos morales. Good tub reading.

Just about done with the Spanish translation of Arendt's On Violence (Sobre la violencia) and Sontag's, Sobre la fotografia. It's taken a while, but I think my Spanish is getting better as a result, but one can never really be sure. Still need to call the Madres, though I feel like I need to do a little more research before I make contact.

Weather's fantastic and I'm tired of living like a pauper so will probably start hitting my little cafe (and other places) for late lunch/early dinner several times a week. They're open 8am - 1 am, so no worries there and they have, as I've already mentioned, excellent, excellent food. Nearly stopped at Persico this afternoon, but when I looked in it seemed more like an art gallery than an ice-cream shop, so I decided to move on. Too much pressure for a cone. That and there were some loud, chatty Americani between me and the door.

So now there's mayhem on the street below. Flashing lights, police. Looks like they've got the Lithuanian embassy blocked off. Hmmmm. Must go investigate. Damn, rowdy Lithuanians.
