Well, I've now officially moved from Austin back to Dallas (where all the lawns are well kept), en route to Bolivia. It is my first full day in absentia and this is my inaugural posting to the blog -- purpose of which is to allow friends and family to keep track (at their own discretion) of the goings-on while I'm away. I'm especially looking forward to posting pictures and will look into putting up a photoblog, which should allow more pictures, in a more convenient way. My hope is all of you will drop in on occasion for a visit and drop me a line via the "comments" link or via email. Remember, anything and everything posted to the blog, including comments, is public; emails on the other hand are private, and probably the best way to contact me. I'm new to this, so we'll work out the kinks as we go along.
The move yesterday from Austin was very nearly painless, in large part thanks to K, who executed the loading of the SUV flawlessly and kindly drove me around for last minute errands and a nice, if somewhat unplanned, lunch at Central Market with REC. Debs stopped by too and left one starfish, one shell, and one lamp the richer, and so I got to see nearly everyone (who was in town at least) before I left. The plan now is to spend a lovely two weeks visiting with Mom and the Boys (Augie, Cosimo, Shiloh, and Nemo); to make improvements to the garden (which is doing nicely); and to work on a more detailed research agenda and travel plan.
I think that'll do for tonight.

My starfish is now sitting on my mini beach chair in my garden. It is very happy there in the sun!
Thanks for giving me my first blog mention. I didn't run all weekend!
