winter wonderland?

Dear Friends:

It's been a wonderful weekend. Though not quite winter, it sure feels like it. Spent much of Saturday taking advantage of the sun -- gardening, repotting the gang of 3 (my indoor herbs) and planting pansies. Visiting with and getting to know the crazy crowd of creatures that seems to call my yard home: insects, plants, and animals alike.

I phat woonsened twice, for dinner on Friday and then breakfast the next morning, bolognesed Saturday evening (with turkey and pork, an experiment, since some of my friends don't eat beef and J has mad cow issues), and breakfast tacoed this morning (with a little carrot cake on the side). All the while dissertating away. Not writing, but reading and I have to say I enjoyed it thoroughly. My hope is to get through the book I'm currently on tonight. I really do wish I could spend my days solely on the diss, but also realize I'm learning a lot at my job. Were that I had a longer life, longer days and the energy and enthusiasm for it all.

Took a break and strolled Hyde Park this evening after stopping in to get a cap at one of my local coffee shops, and I have to say the neighborhood looks great. It's cold and crisp and the moon is full and people have their (usually tasteful) christmas lights up. Perfect for an evening stroll. None of the madness you see in other parts of Austin. I really love my neighborhood and feel very fortunate to be where I am.

Back to the books for me.

Hope everyone is well.

BT
