Ah, move-in weekend

I love the move-in weekend on university campuses -- a new beginning, a new year, optimism, young minds ready to learn, parents in large vans, driving slowly, lost and irritating the locals. Gotta love it. Makes me remember my own trip down to New Orleans, standing in line at my new dorm, meeting people I'd know and become good friends with, standing in line for registration (back in the day), meeting my new roommate (who would shortly thereafter move out and be replaced by someone much nicer). Saying good-bye to my parents.

Today, after my morning run, I decided to begin yet another academic year too. Hit my little Thai place for a great lunch, then the campus bookstore for some books and a few thoroughly non-essential school supplies, and then -- finally -- to a nice shady table outside the student union for a little people watching and reading, where I promptly fell asleep. For me, it was all about getting into the groove and I did just that. Though incredibly hot, I could feel Autumn in the air and it was wonderful.

Tomorrow, I'll do it all again.
