Austin and Back

Dearest Friends:

Just back from a quick, overnight trip to Austin to check out the new digs and run some errands, scout out the new workplace. Everything looks great and I really can't wait to get back into the groove. It's not BA, but Austin does have its charms. It's the only place to be in Texas, as far as I'm concerned.

Had lunch at my favorite Azul Tequila and breakfast at the Red River. Drove around a lot. My new home is awesome (with a great garden and front and back yard) and the building that houses my office doesn't look too shabby either (and, better yet, it's a stone's throw from my favorite Indian restaurant). Saw the new Blanton; looking forward to seeing the inside. Also saw a lot of new construction along Guadalupe and environs. Townlake is its same lovely self and, well, it all just feels like home. I've also been coordinating from Bolivia/Argentina with J at the PCL and, if everything works out, I should be able to move into my "study" shortly after classes begin, thereby getting the basic structure of my life in order: Home, Work, University. Plan is to spend evenings and weekends at the U.

And, looks like The Rolling Stones are coming to Austin! October 22nd. I know, I know, but how could I miss it? No info on tickets yet, but I'll be ready when they are made available. It was nice to have the Stones and Stone buzz in BA, now it's time to actually see them -- before another one falls out of a tree and/or kicks the bucket.

What else? Think that's it for now. Still need to post pictures of final days in BA and Azul, but that'll have to wait until I get to Austin (August 2nd). And, once I get a phone number I'll be sure to send that out too. All in all everything coming along nicely. Hope it's the same wherever you find yourselves.

B.

The garden needs some major help.
