critical social theory and shostakovich in Bo

Dear Friends:

Latest dispatch up.

Also had an excellent, excellent three hour meeting with the fellow I met at the torture & memory conference. He's very intersting. In addition to working at this think tank he established with two other friends, he's a law and sociology student, and very much into fieldwork with the comunidades indigenas. First thing he asked me was if I had read B. de S. S.? Have I read B de SS?! You bet. Put me to shame on the state of the bolivian state, gave me quite the education. The first person I've spoken to who really seems to "get" it on a very sophisticated, educated, critical level. Future meetings are in the works.

Going to listen to a little shostakovich tonight with TWGT. A fine way to end a fine week.
