The Scoop and photos of the new place

Hi All! First full day in BA and I think I'm in love. There's a Carrefour supermarket two blocks down to the left and it's FANTASTIC. Reminds me of the one we had in Brazil only that x10! Food! Cheese. Wine. Bread. Fruit. Vegetables. Clothes. Home items. School supplies. It's like a Lojas Americanas meets C&A meets Target meets Central Market. That, and they do laundry, same day, 7 pesos. I've been twice since I arrived. Back today for an umbrella and more cheese, as it's been raining off and on.

Also got my adaptor and must get my hair cut off as it's hot here. Haven't been downtown yet, but if you've got internet, an MP3, and Carrefour, do you really need to see the sites?

On a sadder note, I have to note the passing of Wendy Wassertein -- one of my favorites. Author of the The Heidi Chronicles (Pulitzer Prize) and Bachelor Girls, she was fantastic, only 55. Got to see her speak and got a book signed at the Miami International Book Festival several years ago -- by far one of the highlights of my law school years. I recommend her work to one and all -- uplifting and realistic, often a difficult combination.
