If the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes is nice, the MALBA (Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires) is spectacular. I went this afternoon and was so pleasantly surprised, it made me happy. It's one of the best museums I've seen in some time. And (!), it's just down the block from me. And (!), with my student ID card it's absolutely, 100%, completely and totally gratis. It has an active community life too: lectures, films, talks, activities and a cafe. What a wonderful, wonderful discovery. The one excess I allowed myself was a a book on the collection. It's big, but beautiful. So I've got my reading for the evening. They don't allow pictures I'm afraid, so if you want to see more, check out the webpage. I will definitely be returning.
All in all a great day. Am finally feeling a little more at home. Actually "cooked" a la B in my kitchen today. Rice w/ olive oil and garlic and a pork roast that turned out so incredibly tender and flavorful, I may have to revisit it again later tonight. Now sipping on an iced coffee.
The weather's supposed to be brilliant tomorrow and so things are looking up. First stop, AMEXP to cash some travellers cheques so I can stop living like the student I am. Second stop the post office (which takes up a whole city block), so I can buy stamps for ye ole postcards.
Hope everyone is well.
B.
