Hi Folks:
I guess fieldwork is simply a rollercoaster. La Paz (like the rest of Bolivia) has been at times both pleasant and difficult. Today, fighting nausea and incredible fatigue, I nearly cancelled a meeting. Didn´t, and it turned out to be one of the best meetings yet with two individuals who seemed genuinely pleased to meet with me -- generous, kind, intelligent and helpful. I still have a touch o the nausea, but am certainly the richer for having gone through with the interview.
I´ve also come to the conclusion that returning post Argentina and post elections is not only a good idea, it´s essential. A month should suffice. I´ll be able to hone in on the info I need and rely on the network I´m establishing now for post-election analysis and a more informed set of interviews.
Things relatively calm in the city today. Second interview of the day was rescheduled (by them) and so I have the evening to myself. Bought my return ticket to cbba, though it hasn´t really hit me yet that in short time I´ll be Texas bound. Finally.
B.
