Dearest Friends:
Back in the USA, getting used to the US keyboards again and it's so terribly nice to be back. Nemo curled up right beside me all night and looks very healthy and happy.
Had two days worth of travelling. Left the house in Cbba Saturday morning at about 4 am. Had to lay over in Schmiami, so took the opportunity to visit my dear friend AM in the hospital and to treat myself to a little pampering in the old hood. For those of you interested, drove by good ole 931 Catalonia Ave. and it's still standing, only now it's Miami yellow. Surrounding areas and Miracle Mile are even ritzier than before and have built up considerably.
Arrived Sunday after the obligatory Delta stop in Atlanta, pooped and not looking especially elegant with my pack(s) and attendant suitcases. Was immediately whisked off to eat dim sum and promptly recovered -- though I do still have that cold, which I'm fighting as we speak.
Today made a thoroughly essential trip to Tony & Guy for some serious-hair/scalp-I've-just-returned-from-the-third-world emergency conditioning and trimming (thanks Mom!) and looked to replace my turtlenecks (which were systematically destroyed by dry cleaners in Bo) and my dear boots (which will be sent to the shoe hospital in Austin upon arrival). Tomorrow a trip to Target and a stop at Lowe's to start work on the winter garden.
And it's definite, will be in Austin week of the 19th! And again in early-mid Jan while K does whatever it is linguists do in a place like Albuquerque.
All in all, it's just really wonderful to be home and am looking forward to seeing the Austin crowd soon.
B.
