Thanksgiving

Dearest Friends:

I hadn´t realized that tomorrow is Thanksgiving, by far my favorite of the traditional holidays. I hope wherever it is you find yourselves, you all have a lovely, relaxing visit with friends and family.

I´ll be departing for cbba bright and early and will hopefully arrive with suitcases, books, computer, and printer in tow. Have purchased all relevant tickets and my return to the US in December is now confirmed (there was a sticky delta connection out of Miami). Said "until 2006" to all the wonderful people I´ve met here in Sucre, including Doña Maria Elena of the famous Heladeria Primavera, who treated me to six (6) very generous scoops of chirimoya ice cream, the lovely ladies at the post office, the folks at the Asamblea, and to Don Rodolfo (or at least to his secretary). Tonight I´ll have dinner at the restaurant with Doña M and will know that when I come back for follow-ups it´ll be to a familiar and friendly place. As I think I´ve told many of you before, one of my favorite things is Returning.

Not sure what I´ll do for Thanksgiving. Have an invitation in cbba, but think I might hit the supermarché and throw together a little something myself on the 3-burner, pop-tart sort of stove my grandparents have. Really, it´s just good for heating water for tea, but I´ve cooked some pretty darn good stuff on less.

Happy Thanksgiving, wherever you are!

B.
