Italians, the cbba countdown, and other news

Dear Friends!

It´s a holiday today (all saints day, or some such) and everything is closed and nice and quiet. Well almost everything. My internet cafe did manage to open, even if a bit late.

Lunch was great. I shared it with Nadia from Turin, who is staying with the Señores until her husband, who is in La Paz, gets to Sucre. It was so, so nice to hear Italian again -- in all its dimensions ("Berlusconi is a prostitute!").

On other fronts, the University situation has gotten out of hand. Students tried to march on the Rector´s house (the rector gave in to the professors´demands), but were stopped by tear gas before they got there. Mad, some of them then stormed his political headquarters, throwing stones, breaking into offices, and raising general mayhem. Now there is some suspicion that these weren´t actually university students (the ones who did the damage), but rather "infiltrators" from another camp. Lovely.

In re the elections, the president has issued two decrees, which everyone hopes will settle things and set elections for December 18. We´ll see; either way BT ought to be out of the picture by then, which isn´t entirely a bad thing.

As for interviews, was unable to get in touch with the magistrado at the CT yesterday (probably because of the election situation), but will continue to try. First meeting scheduled in CBBA for Tuesday (I leave Sat). Other than that, no real news. Dared to have a little bit of milk with coffee after lunch and am going through Toblerone like there´s no tomorrow (what´s wrong with me?).

B.
