Santiago

Dear Friends,

I am finally and thankfully in Santiago, and I have to say I LOVE it. Granted I´ve only seen bits (though the guys who picked me up at the airport did give me a little tour) but I LIKE IT. A Miami, London, Paris combination. Gardens, main avenue, good solid backbone of architecture with some frills, students, universities, theatres, and then this oddly Miami, trashy, bright lights combo. I´m exhausted, but hungry so am going to go find food and a book store (something Sucre does not have, if you can believe it -- a book store, that is).

Will also take photos. Aside from its natural cosmopolitan feel, the city is surrounded by mountains! Lovely. Will write more when I know more. Glad to be on terra firma. Hope everyone is well.
