Dear Friends:
When I woke up this morning, Sucre was covered in fog. It´s late afternoon and we´re just now getting a bit of sun, though it´s still extremely cold out. Had a biting rain all day yesterday. Have on more clothes than I´ve had on in a while, including a woolen cap, which I was forced to buy this morning, and the woolen socks I bought in Potosi. As it stands, Sucre is pretty much bundled up.
On the research front, things were a success yesterday. I met w/ the head of public relations and protocol, who then facilitated introductions with the director of ¨international relations,¨the head of the law school, and the head law librarian, who also happens to be a specialist in constitutional law. They´ve scheduled a get together for me to meet interested faculty tomorrow at 3pm (which unfortunately means I will have to shower at some very cold point today). Of course, the library was my favorite. Lots of old, fantastic looking books. I think the librarian, library staff, and I will get along just fine. They took me into the bowels, offered me coffee (FINALLY), conversation, books, and a little place to set up shop. I left with two books on bolivian con law and will go back tomorrow morning to set up and start examining the collection. The dean was also very receptive and easy to talk to. From what I could gather, he´s a political scientist -- the disciplines are lumped together here (law and political science that is; in some places that´s a perfectly natural (logical, even) thing). Anyways, It´s a start.
Other than that -- Friday and the weekend were pretty much shot due to the ¨entrada de la virgen¨-- a religious celebraton of sorts. Lots of parades, dancing, drinking, streets blocked off, etc. Will post photos on Blogo. The Don Rauls are out of town entertaining a group of Danes at the Bramadero, so things are pretty quiet on the home front as well -- though there´s some big ¨tea¨ tonight in the main salon down and across from my apartment, which means the place will be absolutely inundated with society ladies . . .
Think I´ll head home, stop to buy some nice, freshly popped popcorn from my favorite popcorn lady, settle in with the law books, and prep for my meetings tomorrow. That, or watch my Brazilian novela.
Hope everyone is well.

B, that is excellent! Research has begun! A start at the library which means you are now going to be bottled in there very frequently. And keep yourself protected from the cold. Never knew Sucre was sooo cold at this time of the year! Well...things are going on here as usual. I try to stay away from the department but sections are going well. :-)
Miss you, luv, A.
