Dear Friends:
Apparently, my box/casilla was inadvertently (?) marked as ¨VACANT¨. This means the fate of anything sent to date is uncertain at best. Please don´t let this discourage you as all systems should be a go now. The women who work there and who know me and who are very grandmotherly were a picture of efficiency (thanks to Maxima!) and were genuinely appalled. After a conference amongst themselves they decided this was entirely ¨Mathilda´s¨fault (poor Mathilda) and that I should meet with the Director, who now has my business card, the envelope marked vacant as evidence, and a meeting scheduled with . . . Mathilda, who -- of course -- was no place to be found. (The only evidence I ever see of her existence is an empty coke bottle w/straw on the end of a desk when I look through to the end of my (invariably empty) casilla.)
On other fronts, IRB approved my study!
Looking forward to reading you all soon, postal system willing.
B.

Hey ¨Tequila¨Ray! Sounds wonderful! I´ll look forward to a US stamp. Who will you be TAing for this semester?
Helooo there! I received your wonderful postcard from Bo today! Thanks so much. Now that it all looks so real, I am going to write back soon! Am TAing for Givens and also holding SI sections on Friday. Looks like it will be fun. Any tips, B?
Luv,
A
Super glad you got your postcard! Youve got a great TA assignment. Givens is tres organized and you´ll have absolutely no problem with SI sections. Since Givens will eventually give out possible exam questions, I suggest you spend a couple of days having the students answer those as a group -- I had them split up into groups and answer a few questions each, then compile them into a master document from which to study for the exam. Don´t give out the answers, but let them give it their best shot and discuss as prep for the exam. Let me know if you need any more tips via email. Gonna go check my mail now. :)
