New Orleans

Dearest Friends,

Hadn´t realized things were so terrible in New Orleans until my mother phoned. I´m relatively isolated from world news here, except for the occasional fuzzy tv station and headline, which cannot begin to convey the devastation I´ve just seen online. For those of us who love New Orleans and her people and who have only fond memories of the our time there, this is especially painful. For those of you looking for some news of our old place, http://emergency.tulane.edu has the latest, even though the Tulane internet system is down. Looks like we suffered extensive damage, though everyone was successfully evacuated to Mississippi. I hope those of you in Miami and surrounding coasts are also ok, as I´ve heard reports of damage there too. Wishing you all the best from Sucre.
