Countdown

Been very busy doing last minute things, including a trip down to check on the lakehouse. While there looked in on our grand old volkswagen and it's still there. I have fond memories of learning how to drive in that car, and the thought of me trying to reach the pedals, Mom giving gentle instructions, and the sound of the little engine "percolating" down the narrow lake roads still makes me smile.

Today, in addition to beginning to think about what to take, was all about travellers cheques and bank accounts, dry cleaning, and a quick visit to whole earth provision for a jacket and good socks. Domani will be a mad dash to see to it that all is done and ready to go before departure Wednesday. Plan is to pack super light and I'm sticking to it.

In re the garden: We have figs! And they're very, very good. Hope everone is well.
